Cookie Policy

1. What Are Cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device (computer, tablet, smartphone) when you visit a website or use an application. They are widely used to make websites and applications work, or work more efficiently, as well as to provide information to the owners of the site/application.
2. How We Use Cookies
DebtWise ("we," "our," or "us") uses cookies for several essential purposes:
- Essential Cookies: These cookies are strictly necessary to provide you with services available through our Application and to use some of its features, such as access to secure areas (user authentication and session management). Because these cookies are strictly necessary to deliver the Application, you cannot refuse them without impacting how our Application functions. We use cookies provided by NextAuth.js for authentication purposes.
Currently, DebtWise primarily uses essential cookies for authentication and session management. We do not currently use non-essential performance, analytics, or functionality cookies that require separate consent beyond accepting our Terms of Use, but we may do so in the future. If we implement such cookies, this policy will be updated, and appropriate consent mechanisms will be provided where required by law.
3. Third-Party Cookies
Besides the essential first-party cookies for authentication (e.g., NextAuth.js session cookies), DebtWise does not currently set third-party cookies for tracking or advertising purposes. If we integrate third-party services in the future that use cookies (e.g., payment processors, analytics), this policy will be updated.
4. Your Choices Regarding Cookies
Since we currently only use essential cookies necessary for the operation of the Application (like keeping you logged in), there isn't an option to opt-out of these cookies without losing the ability to use the core features of the Application.
However, you can typically control and/or delete cookies as you wish through your browser settings. You can delete all cookies that are already on your computer and you can set most browsers to prevent them from being placed. If you do this, however, you may have to manually adjust some preferences every time you visit a site and some services and functionalities (like logging in to DebtWise) may not work.
